The Bantam Thunder headed into the semi finals against the Burlington Bulldogs fuelled by the support of their goalie Joel Hagen, who shortly after Thursdays game underwent emergency surgery. The Thunder found themselves down by a goal with 4.5 seconds left when captain Aidan McVey found the back of the net. 3 on 3 overtime brought no results forcing a 1 on 1 one minute overtime period. Tyler Mitchell stepped up to the plate for Lawfield and headed onto the ice to face off against the Bulldogs captain. Mitchell tripped up the Bulldogs captain causing a penalty shot, Thunder goalie Andrew Dalgleish turned the shot away to keep the Thunders Tournament alive. The next face off, Tyler Mitchell fought through body contact before sprouting away on a breakaway where he buried the game winning goal. Thunder move on to the championship!
